AHAA
Affordable Housing Advocacy in Actions
Illustration | Photoshop | Figma
The Objective
As a class, we are advocating alongside the Dwelling Place to educate others on the importance of creating stability through affordable housing, supporting the mission that the Dwelling Place has continually expressed and shared throughout the community.
There is an overall lack of information about what affordable housing is and its impacts, which creates unrealistic biases and stereotypes that negatively affect the community, resulting in a widespread misunderstanding of what affordable housing really means. We plan to combat these biases while fostering open dialogue, sparking conversations, and enhancing public understanding of this critical issue.

Primary Logo
Secondary Logo
The AHAA logo creatively integrates human-like figures within the letterforms to symbolize opportunity, housing, community, and connection.
The first "A" features a keyhole, representing access to affordable housing.
The "H" represents stability and security through its strong, structured form, resembling a stable home.
The second "A" incorporates a person with raised arms, conveying empowerment and action.
The final "A" includes a heart shape, signifying care and compassion for those in need.
The overall design emphasizes the organization's mission of advocating for accessible and affordable housing.

I explored my design process in creating a sub-brand for The Dwelling Place, developed in collaboration with the GVSU graphic design program and brought to life through a curated exhibition experience.
The Design Task
As a class, we divided into three teams: brand, campaign, and experience (web) teams. Each team has its responsibilities to cohesively design a sub-brand for the AHAA program under The Dwelling Place’s established parent brand assets.
Team Responsibilities:
Brand Team: Logo, TypeFace Study, Icon Set, Brand Guide
Campaign Team: Posters, Social Media Posts
Experience Team: Website and Mobile Design
